Nurse-led care - We provide medication safety, seizure protocols, G-Tube related support planning, documentation and health change awareness.

Family-first communication - Families are partners. We ask accurate information, share concerns early and review support needs when they change.

Meaningful days - Routine, activities, social connection, life skills, personal care, rest and community participation.

Safe, structured support - Rates and policies protect staffing, training, documentation, insurance, supplies, food, rent and payroll.

Day Program
Respite Care Day Program for adults with developmental disabilities. Structured daily support, personal care, meals and snacks, community participation, life skills and routine.

Weeknight Program
Join us for our Weeknight Program at Riverside Respite, every Monday and Thursday from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at 99 Simcoe Street, Peterborough. This vibrant evening of movies and dancing is specially designed for individuals with developmental disabilities, featuring nurse-led care and two hours of respite for caregivers. Enhance your experience and support your loved ones for just $50 per session, with a minimum of four sessions required. Enjoy peace of mind while they engage in fun activities!

Complex Care Community Night
Join us at Riverside Respite for our Complex Care Community Night, held on the first Tuesday of each month from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM at our new location, 99 Simcoe Street, Peterborough. This engaging event is designed for families caring for individuals with complex medical needs and developmental disabilities, offering a supportive environment to share your story. Connect with others in the community who understand your journey and gain insights to enhance your caregiving experience.

We offer meaningful day programming and overnight respite in a setting that feels safe, calm, and person-centred. Each individual who walks through our doors is seen as a whole person, with their own strengths, routines, needs, preferences, and personality. We take the time to get to know each client and family so that care can be delivered with respect, consistency, and heart.

Our team understands that every family’s journey is different. Some families need regular respite to maintain balance at home. Some need support during transitions, changes in health, caregiver burnout, or periods of increased need. Others are simply looking for a safe and engaging place where their loved one can build relationships, enjoy activities, and be part of a caring community.

At Riverside Respite, we are committed to creating that place.

We work closely with families to understand routines, support needs, medications, personal care requirements, behaviours, comfort strategies, and goals.
